Korey Hopkins is a photographer and director of photography based in the Washington DC/Maryland area. He creates commercial, editorial, and documentary work for brands, nonprofits, and publications that want stories told with a point of view.

His clients and collaborators include Patagonia, Freehub Magazine, Mountain Flyer, EuroSort, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and Virginia Public Media. His documentary work includes Trailblazer: The DeAngelo Washington Story — which completed the festival circuit and found a permanent home on VPM. A former network automation engineer, Korey brings an uncommon ability to translate technically complex subjects into visual storytelling that non-technical audiences actually connect with.

An FAA Part 107 certified UAS pilot — and adjunct professor of drone cinematography — Korey can serve as a solo operator for lean productions or slot into larger crews as DP, camera operator, drone pilot, or producer. He's based in the DC/MD/VA area and travels for the right work.

When he's not behind the camera, Korey is coaching kids through mountain bikes on the NICA board of directors, building drones in his lab, or logging hammock hours in pursuit of maximum relaxation. He is currently powered by Swedish Fish.
